SRR College students perform ‘arangetram’

October 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - KARIMNAGAR:

It was a dream come true for students of SRR Government Arts and Science College as they performed ‘arangetram’, their first dance performance in Perini Shiva Thandavam and Perini Lasyam dance forms, at Mahashakthi temple in the town on Wednesday.

In order to preserve the ancient dance form of Telangana and prevail upon the State government to declare the Perini Shiva Thandavam as Telangana’s classical dance form, the SRR College, in association with the Department of Language and Culture, had imparted 15-day rigorous training to its students.

Seventy students, who had learned the Perini Shiva Thandavam (boys) and Perini Lasyam (girls) gave their first performance before the goddess Durga here.
