Adilabad Superintendent of Police Tarun Joshi on Thursday launched the SHE teams in the district, aimed at providing protection to women in public places.

The SP also released posters meant to create awareness on SHE team among the general public.
The five-member team comprising one Sub-Inspector of Police, a woman police officer and three constables will work in Adilabad town at present.
SHE teams will later be expanded to other places in the district.
The Adilabad team can be accessed on mobile number 8341571571 while women can dial 100 for assistance in case of problem from anywhere in the district.
Bellampalli Additional SP N. Prakash Reddy and Adilabad DSP A. Laxminarayana were also present during the launch.

Flagging off the “SHE Team” vehicles at the police headquarters here the Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy said that women constituting half of the population were facing discrimination and harassment and being subjected to atrocities often. To protect them from such problems and also from eve-teasing the “She Teams” would move around in plainclothes at railway stations, bus stands, colleges and educational institutions and other public places.
The needy could also approach the police by way of Twitter, Facebook, whatsapp and other social media and by dialling at 100.
Spy cameras were also fixed at junctions and the police teams will take the culprits into custody with their help.
If the minors are arrested they would be released after giving counselling in the presence of their parents or guardians, said the SP.

Appealing to people to cooperate with the She Team police and respect the women, Mr. Chandrashekar Reddy quoted the famous saying of Mahatma Gandhi that whenever womenfolk moved freely even in midnight then only the nation could enjoy the real Independence.
