Pune police likely to arrest Varavara Rao today

In a case relating to alleged conspiracy to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Hyderabad-based revolutionary writer Varavara Rao, who is under house arrest at his flat in Gandhinagar in the city, is likely to be taken into custody by the Pune police on Saturday, in a case relating to alleged conspiracy to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A special team of the Pune police led by an officer of Assistant Commissioner of Police rank has arrived in Hyderabad and is reportedly waiting for the investigating officer. The team reached the city on Friday night.

Talking to The Hindu , a senior officer from the Pune police said they did not “pick-up” Rao on Friday as it was too latey.

“Our team will bring him to Pune, after producing ihim n a local court,” he said.
