Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao not only received rousing reception from the gathering during the Amaravati foundation ceremony but also evoked good response from the people for his announcement to extend all support for building the new capital.

Many considered this was a positive move from the Telangana Chief Minister and this would go in a long way in strengthening the bond between the two States.

“We may have geographically divided but are still two Telugu-speaking States. This gesture promotes brotherhood between the two States. Mr. Rao is coming to Andhra Pradesh after a long time and it is good that Telangana government will extend support for Amaravati,” said Narayana Murthy, a lecturer in a private college.

Most people opined that such steps have to be taken by both the governments to ensure welfare of the people, besides development. “Both the States have to work together and strive for development. By participating in the foundation ceremony and lending a helping hand, Mr. Rao is promoting positive aspects and this has to be welcomed,” said Venkateswara Rao, a businessman from Guntur.

A senior police official said it was shocking to witness such a gesture from the Telangana Chief Minister but said it was a good move. “These efforts help in diminishing regional feelings among people,” said the official.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s decision to invite his Telangana counterpart for the ceremony was hailed by many and Telugu Desam party leaders have put up banners welcoming Mr. Rao to the ceremony at different locations in Vijayawada.

There were cheers and whistles from the crowd, when Mr. Rao arrived on the stage during the foundation ceremony and extended Dasara greetings to one and all.
