A six-year-old daughter of a daily wage earner was sexually assaulted and hacked to death after she was abducted by an ‘intoxicated’ teenager from Turkapally village in Hyderabad on Thursday, police said.

The minor's mutilated body was found dumped in the bushes. “Prima facie it seems that the girl was raped and then hacked to death,” police said.

A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Child Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, has been registered against the accused, a native of West Champaran district in Bihar. The accused allegedly in an inebriated condition took the girl to a secluded place and raped her before killing her around 3 p.m., a senior official.

When the girl went missing from the locality while playing holi, the family and neighbours launched a search but couldn’t find her anywhere and later lodged a complaint, after which a missing person case was registered at Alwal police station

“A team immediately swung into action and later in the evening, the victim's body was found in the bushes,” Cyberabad police said. The accused was taken into custody and a probe is on.
