Free treatment for employees, pensioners

State government employees and their family members as well as pensioners can get treatment and medicines free of cost at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad, from October 2 onwards. The free health services scheme will be inaugurated by Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna and Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy on that day, said RIMS Medical Superintendent Dr. A. Ashok.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, Dr. Ashok said 25 types of chronic ailments, including heart and kidney diseases, can be treated at RIMS. In general, of the 1,800 diseases listed for treatment, as many as 1,000 can be treated at RIMS, he added.

Dr. Ashok said a special team of four doctors will attend to patients who are government employees, their family members and pensioners. Five AC rooms have been earmarked for the same as well.
