A plan is on the anvil to set up an Electronic Intensive Care Unit (e-ICU) at the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL)’s main hospital in Kothagudem soon.

The hospital was built during the British period. It celebrated its platinum jubilee last month.

The Singareni main hospital, a 221-bed major healthcare facility in the entire coal belt region, receives over 1,000 patients in its outpatient wing on an average daily.

It offers super-speciality healthcare services to the SCCL employees, their dependents and other patients of the Kothagudem region.

It has an emergency casualty unit equipped with 16 beds and three ventilators. There are four air-conditioned ambulances attached to the hospital. The hospital is equipped with tele-medicine facility which runs in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals, sources said.

The authorities mooted a proposal to establish an e-ICU in the hospital to provide advanced critical care services under the supervision of the critical care experts of the major cities in a non time consuming and efficient manner.
