Couple killed in road accident

A couple were killed after the motorbike they were travelling on was knocked down by a speeding lorry at Kodad crossroads in Khammam rural mandal on Friday.

The deceased were identified as S. Upender, 30, a supervisor of a private dairy, and his wife Mamata, 28.

Sources said that the victims hailed from Choutapalli in Kusumanchi mandal.

The couple were travelling on the motorbike towards Khammam when a lorry rammed the bike from the rear side near Khammam rural police station in the morning.

The duo suffered grievous head injuries in the mishap.

Mamata died while being shifted to a hospital in an ambulance.

Upender succumbed at the district headquarters hospital in Khammam around noon.

A case has been registered.
