Giving an assurance of safety to the residents of Hajipur village, District Collector Anita Ramachandran and Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat inaugurated a closed-circuit television network at the village.
The video surveillance system, that was inaugurated on Saturday, comprises 12 cameras connected to a recorder that comes with a 30-day backup, an hour of uninterruptible power supply and a monitor set up at the village panchayat office. The whole system was installed at a cost of ₹ 10.6 lakh.
Mr. Bhagwat inaugurating the system, said the administration had tried to make the village secure by putting in place crime preventive measures. Further, an additional bus service from ECIL to Hajipur has already been arranged and plans are being drawn to improve the roads to improve the connectivity to the village, he added.
“Now, as a community you have to take ownership and manage all these services well,” he told villagers, encouraging them to approach police or send complaints over Rachakonda police’s WhatsApp +91 9490617111.
Addressing the villagers, Ms. Ramachandran called the families to be confident and continue to send their daughters and sons to schools. She said the administration would explore extending services of dedicated teams like SHE teams to villages too.
Yadadri DCP Narayana Reddy, ACP Bhujanga Rao and others participated in the village meeting.
Hajipur village shocked Telangana last month, when a minor girl who went missing was exhumed from an abandoned well. Her finding led to two other girls, allegedly raped, murdered and buried in similar pattern in an adjoining well.
