Sircilla Rajaiah's daughter-in-law, grandsons charred to death

The incident, which sent shock waves in the City, took place at about 5 am in the first floor of the two storied building. The cause of fire is not known, family disputes is suspected to be the reason.

Congress candidate for Warangal Parliament byelection Sircilla Rajaiah’s daughter-in-law Sarika allegedly committed suicide along with her kids – Abhinav (7), Ayan (4) and Sriyan (4) in the wee hours of Wednesday at their residence here.

A massive fire erupted in the first floor of the hosue in the early hours in which Sarika and her three sons got charred to death beyond recognition. At their house at Revenue Colony in Hanamkonda, her husband Anil Kumar and mother-in-law Madhavi were also present in the house.

Sarika has been facing marital dispute with her husband and accused him and his parents Mr. Rajaiah and Madhavi of harassing her. She had lodged a complaint with the police some time ago. She staged a protest demonstration in front of Mr.Rajaiah’s house in the past.

She had accused Mr. Anil Kumar of having extra marital relations and neglecting her. She accused his parents of trying to drive her away along with kids.

Theirs’ was a love marriage that took place in 2001 and after Rajaiah became MP, his son Mr. Anil Kumar left his job and took to lavish lifestyle ignoring his family, she had alleged. Ms. Sarika was forced to give up her job and settle in Hanamkonda with kids.

The Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu, who arrived at spot with senior officials said that they were yet to find out the cause of the incident. “We are investigating in all angles,” he said. It was not known if it was a case of suicide or fire mishap.

The incident, which sent shock waves in the City, took place at about 5 am. Police extensively questioned Anil, husband of Sarika in connection with the incident.

Congress leaders, who had rushed to the spot maintained that Sarika reportedly committed suicide. Visuals aired on television channel showed Mr. Rajaiah crying inconsolably in front of the house. Police cordoned off the area and allowed only close relations inside.
