Tamil Maanila Congress president G.K. Vasan on Monday demanded that the Tamil Nadu government withdraw the order increasing property taxes in the State.

Leading a protest near the Chennai Collectorate, he said the tax hikes would badly hit the poor and middle class citizens and those staying in rented houses. Mr. Vasan said the DMK had promised in its election manifesto that it won’t raise property taxes but was now acting contrary to it. He said this had exposed the DMK’s agenda.
