Despite a separate parking lot being made available for devotees coming to Anjaneyar temple, vehicles are indiscriminately parked on both the sides of Fort Road, leading to congestion and traffic diversion.
Vehicle parking has been banned on roads leading to the Anjaneyar temple and Narasimhar temple as the Namakkal Municipality has allotted a separate parking lot near Uzhavar Sandhai.
But vehicle users continue to defy the rules and park their vehicles on Fort Road and on roads across from the temple. This leads to frequent traffic congestion as devotees face the heat.
Parking
The absence of police personnel to regulate the traffic near the temple worsens the situation as unauthorised parking continues unchecked.
On Saturdays, more than 120 cars are parked on both the sides of roads near the temple.
Buses and other vehicles moving towards Erode and Salem find it difficult to move as police personnel, instead of clearing the unauthorised vehicles, diverted the buses through National Highway.
This leaves passengers on bus stops in Salem Road, Murugan Kovil and Tiruchengode Road without any bus services. These passengers are forced to come to the bus stand because of this practice being followed.
Though vehicles are banned near the temple, people continue to park their vehicles there, ignoring the rules that have been laid down. At least on Saturdays and festival days, the ban should be effectively implemented so that road users, passengers and devotees do not face any hassle, a resident said regarding the issue.
