Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) buses, being operated between Rameswaram and Madurai and other places, would avoid passing through Paramakudi and take alternative routes on Friday in view of the death anniversary of Immanuel Sekaran.

Collector K. Nanathakumar said that buses leaving Rameswaram would pass through Ramanathapuram, Pandiyur, Nainarkoil, Ilayankudi, Sivaganga and Varichiyur and reach Madurai.

In the return direction too, the buses would be operated on the same route.

TNSTC sources said that the government operated about 400 trips a day in Madurai-Rameswaram sector.

The district administration, however, arranged special buses on specified routes in the district for the benefit of those visiting Paramakudi to pay homage to the Dalit leader.
