A total of 11,562 candidates appeared for TNPSC Group-II examination in various centres across the district on Sunday. It was held at Tuticorin, Kovilpatti, Srivaikuntam and Tiruchendur centres. The candidates took the exam in 53 halls at 42 various locations.
Among the total number of candidates, 24 per cent of them numbering 3,557 candidates were absent. Collector M. Ravikumar inspected an exam hall at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School here. Eight flying squads, 10 mobile units and 53 inspection officers monitored the proceedings, sources said.
Tirunelveli
In Tirunelveli district, a total of 26, 647 candidates applied for the exam and 23 per cent was absent, said Collector M. Karunakaran, who inspected an exam hall at Christhu Raja Higher Secondary School at Palayamkottai.
The candidates wrote the exam in halls at 81 schools in various centres, including Tirunelveli, Ambasamudram, Tenkasi, Vallioor, Sankarankovil and Radhapuram, the Collector said.
Kanyakumari
A total of 10,603 candidates, including 16 differently-abled persons, appeared for examination in Kanyakumari district. A total number of 13,507 candidates had applied. A total of 2,904 candidates were absent.
The examination, held in 44 centres in Nagercoil, Kuzhithurai, Thuckalay and Kanyakumari, was monitored by a team of 10 flying squads and over 50 invigilators.
Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan inspected the centre at the Duthie Girls Higher Secondary School in Nagercoil.
