Tiruvannamalai students move a few notches up in performance

The Tiruvannamalai district has shown a decent progress in terms of pass percentage in plus two exams this year.

Out of 24,362 students, 20,326 passed the exams. This accounts for 83.43 per cent of pass. This is 9.03 per cent higher than last year’s 74.4 per cent that pushed the district to the last place among the districts in the State, in terms of pass percentage. The significant progress in pass percentage has raised the stature of the district a few notches up. From last year’s 32nd place it went up to 29th place. Though it is not an enviable position, education authorities heave a sigh of relief as their efforts to improve the performance finally paid off.

Result break up: Out of 24,362 students who appeared for the exams, 12,773 are girls and 11,589 are boys. Out of 20,326 passed 11,229 are girls and 9,097 are boys. Boys’ pass percent accounts for 78.5 while girls’s per cent accounts for 87.91.

The Tiruvannamalai district is composed of two educational districts namely Tiruvannamalai and Cheyyar. Out of total number of students who appeared, Tiruvannamalai ED contributed 15,390 and Cheyyar ED contributed 8,972.

Out of those passed who passed , Tiruvannamalai ED contributed 13,120 (85.25 percent) and Cheyyar ED contributed 7,206 (80.32 percent).

Out of 193 schools in the district 15 schools got all their students passed.
