After 23 years, the director-actor combo involved in Amaran , a blockbuster that had over a 100-day theatrical run, are back to enthral audiences with a sequel.

Actor Karthik will don the role of hero in Amaran II after a hiatus on the silver screen.

Karthik fans are in for a double delight as the actor will be singing in this film too.

Posters of the actor sporting a gun were recently released and K. Rajeswar who directed Amaran will helm the sequel too.

Assuring a stylish thriller, director Rajeshwar recalls how the original movie was a smashing hit and always had the potential to be developed into a sequel.

“I went on to do other movies. But, this has always been at the back of my mind. The protagonist who had to wield weapons due to circumstances in Amaran will confront other forms of evil in this film. But Amaran II is a sequel to the character not the movie,” says Rajeshwar who shares a good camaraderie with actor Karthik.

“We plan to shoot in London, Italy and Malaysia apart from Chennai as the plot demands such locales. We are still working on the rest of the star cast and plan to begin shooting by July or August,” adds Rajeswar.

He says he plans to release the movie by next summer.

A touch of

foreign action

Hollywood action choreographer Roger Yuan, who has worked in films such as Batman Begins, Skyfall and Shangai Noon , will be choreographing stunt sequences in actor Dhanush’s next film, which will be directed by Prabhu Solomon.

It is learnt that Yuan will be choreographing important sequences in this big budget film, which is said to be an action thriller.

The film is believed to be set in a train travelling between Kashmir and Kanyakumari and said to contain several edge-of-the-seat action set-pieces.

A huge set in Binny Mills is already being put up.

Actor Dhanush, who is busy with his next release, Maari , directed by filmmaker Balaji Mohan, will start work on this film produced by Satyajothi films.

Meanwhile, actor Kamal Haasan, whose Papanasam, a remake of Malayalam hit Drishyam , is ready for release in July, will also be working with French action choreographers in his Tamil-Telugu bilingual, Thoongavanam , which is currently being shot in Hyderabad and Chennai.

Kamal Haasan is also likely to work in a Hindi film, which would also star Saif Ali Khan.
