Rerun of resort politics?

October 23, 2018 12:45 am | Updated 12:45 am IST - CHENNAI

Seventeen of the 18 disqualified MLAs, owing allegiance to AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran, along with four AIADMK legislators, left for Courtallam in Tirunelveli district on Monday. This triggered speculation that they were being taken to a resort ahead of the impending verdict in the disqualification case.

However, Tamilselvan and P. Vetrivel — both disqualified MLAs — said the purpose of the visit was to take part in the Tamirabarani pushkaram on Tuesday. The former and sitting MLAs would be lodged at a resort belonging to former Minister Esakki Subbiah. The decision to take part in the pushkaram was taken following a meeting chaired by Mr. Dhinakaran at the AMMK head office here on Sunday.
