Release Perarivalan on parole, says Stalin

‘T.N. should take a cue from Maharashtra’

DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Saturday urged the State government to release Perarivalan, one of the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, on parole. “The State government should take a cue from the Maharashtra government, which decided to release actor Sanjay Dutt on parole,” Mr. Stalin said in the Legislative Assembly.

He noted that the government had already rejected a request to release Perarivalan on parole, and subsequently, the Assembly had adopted a resolution seeking the release of all the convicts in the case.

“The Chief Secretary also wrote a letter to the Central government in this regard. Since the Maharashtra government has set an example, Tamil Nadu should follow it and release him on parole,” the DMK leader said.
