Many parts of the district experienced heavy downpour on Thursday evening and Friday early morning.
In particular, the Fort City experienced heavy rains during this period.
During the 24-hour period ending 8 a.m. on Friday, the district received an average rainfall of 17.69 mm.
Vellore received the highest rainfall with 50.6 mm followed by Kaveripakkam (39 mm) and Wallajah (28 mm).
Arcot recorded 24 mm rain, while Arakkonam recorded 20 mm rainfall. Melalathur, Ambur, Sholinghur, Alangayam and Gudiyatham also received rains.
Cloudy skies
However, the sky continued to remain cloudy for most part of the day on Friday.
From 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., the city recorded 1.4 mm rainfall.
Tiruvannamalai district recorded an average rainfall of 6.34 mm during this period.
Polur recorded the highest rainfall with 31.20 mm, while Arni received 13.20 mm.
