R. Arul (42) of Bhajanai Koil Street, Narayanapuram in Jolarpet was arrested by a team comprising the Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services (JDMRHS), Vellore, a sub-inspector attached to the Jolarpet Police Station and a drug inspector recently on a charge of practicing allopathy without n MBBS degree.
The accused was arrested under sections 417 (cheating) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code and sent for judicial remand.
Dr. Manimegalai told The Hindu that the quack was arrested following complaints from the public and the instructions of the District Collector. Arul, who possesses a D. Pharm degree was running a medical shop for nearly 10 years.
