PWD official caught while taking bribe

S. Porchezhian, Junior Engineer, Public Works Department (PWD), Water Resources Organisation, Pappankulam Section, was allegedly caught red-handed by Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths while taking bribe in his office at Tenkasi on Monday night.

According to the police, Porchezhian demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from A. Amalraj Pandian (49) of Sernthamangalam for providing no-objection certificate to construct a bridge across a kanmoi at Kulasekaramangalam. Mr. Pandian lodged a complaint with the DVAC police. Under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police S.V. Bargunam, a team headed by Inspector of Police R. Authees laid a trap and arrested Porchezhian under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
