Condemning the Central and the State governments for failing to control inflation, Pattali Makkal Katchi cadres staged a demonstration in front of Tirunelveli railway junction on Tuesday. Led by party president G.K. Mani, the protestors raised slogans against both the governments.
Speaking amidst the protestors, Mr. Mani said that the unprecedented inflation had made the common man’s life miserable.
Though the governments were fully aware that hoarding and online trading were the reasons behind the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, no steps had been taken to weed out these serious issues.
“If the PMK is elected to power, the party will take all-out efforts to control inflation and ensure availability of essential commodities at affordable prices,” Mr. Mani said.
The PMK cadres staged similar protests in Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts too.
