Over 40,000 appear for lab assistants’ exam

Out of the 49,106 candidates who applied for the written examination for recruitment to the posts of 286 laboratory assistants in the higher secondary schools in Vellore district, 40,631 candidates appeared for the exams held in 72 centres in the district on Sunday.

Kasthuri Bai, Chief Education Officer (in charge), Vellore supervised the exam.

R. Nanthagopal, District Collector and chairman of the examinations in Vellore district inspected the conduct of the exam in the Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur.

The Director of School Education S. Kannappan who is in charge of the exam in Vellore district visited the following centres in the district and inspected the conduct of the exam: Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Kaveripakkam, NAG Matriculation School, Ranipettai Engineering College, Little Flower Convent Higher Secondary School, Ranipet and the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Arcot.

Seven inspecting officers, i.e., the District Education Officer (DEO), Vellore; DEO, Tirupattur; District Elementary Education Officer, Vellore; Principal, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Ranipet; Additional District Project Coordinator (ADPC), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan; ADPC, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and the Personal Assistant (Higher Secondary) to the Chief Education Officer inspected the conduct of the exam in the various centres.

Smooth conduct

The examination went on smoothly throughout the district, according to a spokesperson of the education department.
