Objections invited to property tax revision

The Greater Chennai Corporation Council has passed a resolution to invite objections and suggestions from the public on property tax revision.

GCC Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi said the resolution is to notify the property tax revision in the Gazette. “Since added areas saw revision of tax rates in 2008, the increase there is less compared to the core city which saw the last revision only in 1998,” said Mr. Bedi.

But the residents have claimed that the rates revised in 2018 had created confusion because of certain anomalies.
