MADURAI: The followers of the Congress(I) leader, Mr. G. K. Moopanar. have floated a new party at Tirupparankundram near here following the high command's decision to revive ties with the AIADMK.

These followers have formed the 'Rajiv Congress' with Mr. Pon. Manoharan as president. The leaders of the new outfit have decided to reject the 'dictat' of the Delhi rulers.

In a statement, they have condemned the 'mortgaging' of the State Congress(I) unit to the AIADMK on the advice of 'political brokers.'

Meanwhile, posters urging the people to defeat the 'corrupt' AIADMK alliance have come up in the Tiruparankunram area.

COIMBATORE: The Congress(I) men in the city strongly resented the Congress(I)-AIADMK alliance and as a way of protest, they hoisted a black flag at the party office here on Friday.

They also abused a portrait of the Congress(I) president, Mr. P. V. Narasimha Rao, by hitting it with chappals and latter burning it to ashes.

However, after the senior leader, Mr. G. K. Moopanar, had made known his displeasure over the behaviour of the partymen in Madras, the Congressmen here removed the black flag and re-hoisted the party flag in the evening.
