Palayamkottai police are on the lookout for a housemaid who attacked an elderly houseowner and robbed her of 16 sovereigns of gold ornaments.
The police said that M. Rashida Begum (75), a widow, of Rahmath
Nagar under
Palayamkottai police station limits, who was living alone as her son is abroad, hired the housemaid recently.
The maid came for
work on Tuesday,
attacked the houseowner and escaped with a gold chain and bangles. The matter came to light only after Rashida Begum alerted her relatives
over phone.
