Chief Judicial Magistrate Kumara Saravanan on Tuesday extended the judicial remand of Vaidyanathan, named in Aavin milk adulteration case, till February 2.

In the case in which wide-scale adulteration of Aavin milk took place 19 persons, including Vaidyanathan of Chennai, were arrested and lodged in the Cuddalore Central Prison.

Of them 18 had come out on bail. After a 120-day internment in the prison Vaidyanathan was produced before the court on Tuesday. All of them were said to be colluding in the Aavin milk adulteration case.

Their modus operandi was to divert the tankers carrying Aavin milk from Thiruvannamalai to Chennai to a private property at Tindivanam, steal huge quantity of milk and pour equal amount of water into the tanker. In this connection the police registered a case which was later transferred to CB-CID.
