The 181 announcements made on various projects by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa under Rule 110 in the State Assembly in the last four years should not remain on paper. The government should take effective steps to implement all the programmes announced , State president of the Bharathiya Janata Party Tamilisai Soundararajan has said.
“The Chief Minister has made lot of announcements under Rule 110. They all look like promises made during elections. The government should inform the people about the projects implemented so far, and the funds allotted for other projects announced under Rule 110,” Ms. Soundararajan told reporters at the end of a two-day State executive committee meeting of the State BJP’s youth wing at Yercaud on Wednesday.
Whether the State government will be able to implement all the announcements is a big doubt among people, she said.
When asked how she looked at the recently concluded Assembly session, Ms. Soundararajan said it was a session of mere announcements. People were waiting for a particular announcement — on total prohibition or prohibition in a phased manner. However, the government disappointed everybody by not making any announcement on this issue, she said. The CAG Report has brought to light the wastage of a huge sum of money in the implementation of various programmes, especially in the purchase of power. The government should respond to these charges, Ms. Soundararajan said.
