IMA wants hospitals declared as protected zones

The Indian Medical Association has made an appeal not to register cases under 304-A against doctors without obtaining expert opinion and not to arrest them even if FIR is filed.

Doctors in-charge of their professional duties should not be booked under PCR Act as was done in Erode district.

In a memorandum submitted to Collector N. Venkatachalam here on Friday, IMA state secretary C.N. Raja said that the hospital and health care institutions must be declared as protected zones.

Doctors should not be branded negligent when damage is caused by a defective product or manufacture’s fault. The State government may issue necessary orders in this regard. G.O. 220 Health and Family Welfare 2008 should be implemented properly.

Cancel licence

The members also appealed to the State government to cancel the licence of medical shops selling drugs without doctor’s prescription.
