Gowda greets Jayalalithaa

Published - May 18, 2011 02:00 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) president H.D. Deve Gowda has congratulated Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on her party's “landslide victory” in the recent Assembly elections and for her assuming office as the Chief Minister for the third time.

In a letter sent to her, he said the poll outcome was the result of Ms. Jayalalithaa's vision, strategic thinking and unswerving commitment to the people of Tamil Nadu. He was confident that the new government in the State under her leadership “would herald a new era of peace, progress, prosperity, corruption-free administration and justice to the people of the State, particularly the poor, downtrodden, farmers and minorities, who were the worst victims of the rampant loot and corruption in the State.”
