State power utility Tangedco will establish floating solar power projects in the districts of Theni, Salem and Erode with a capacity of 250 MW and at an estimated cost of ₹1,125 crore.

Besides, the Kadaladi Ultra Mega Solar Photovoltaic Park Power Project, with a capacity of 500 MW, will be established at a cost of ₹2,350 crore, the State government informed the Assembly on Friday.

The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency would set up 'Amma Green Gramams' — sustainable energy villages with mini rural renewable energy parks having a capacity of 5 MW each — by utilising non-productive community and patta lands for the generation of renewable energy with the help of the Green Climatic Fund, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam said.

The Tamil Nadu Solar Energy Policy 2019, unveiled recently, would increase the solar power generation capacity of the State to 9,000 MW by 2023, he added.

In the Budget Estimates for 2019-2020, ₹18,560.77 crore has been allocated to the energy sector.
