Five detained under Goondas Act

The city police on Wednesday detained five persons involved in crime activities under the Goondas Act.

K. Guber alias Gubendran (49) of Pappireddipatti in Dharmapuri district was involved in cheating of many persons in the city.

Five cases were pending against him in Kannankurichi and Suramangalam police stations. He was recently arrested and lodged at Salem Central Prison.

Pandian (30) of Pallipatti and his brother Manikandan (27) were involved in burglary incidents in the city also in a robbery case.

P. Ajithkumar (23) of Alagapuram and N. Srinivasan (34) of Gorimedu was involved in threatening of people and demanding money from them.

They were recently arrested after damaging properties at a lodge in Yercaud and lodged at prison.

Since all the five were involved in continuous criminal activities and disturb the peace of the people, based on recommendations, City Police Commissioner A. Amalraj ordered their detention under the Act. Detention orders were served to them at the Salem Central Prison.
