Expedite works to achieve targets, Collector tells officials

Vellore Collector R. Nanthagopal has directed the officials of the various departments to expedite the completion of the target for the scheme works pertaining to their departments for the year 2015-16.

He was presiding over a meeting to review the progress of the works under the 20-point programme at the Collectorate here on Wednesday.

The Collector was told that 100 per cent of the target for engagement of workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) has been attained for the year 2015-16. As for the Indira Awas Yojana for 2014-15, against the target for construction of 3,791 group houses, 2,871 houses have been completed, achieving 88 per cent of the target.

On behalf of the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, it was stated that 80.9 per cent of the target under the BCG vaccination programme, 90.09 per cent of the target under the Pentavalent-III vaccine programme, 9.45 per cent of the target under the oral polio immunisation programme, 93.38 per cent under the measles vaccination programme, 79.40 per cent of the target under the maternity welfare programme have been reached.

The Collector asked the officials to take steps to reach the entire target under the various schemes on time.

While inspecting the work of construction of the new taluk office buildings in Anaicut and Natrampalli being undertaken by the Executive Engineer, Public Works Department (Construction and Maintenance) during 2014-15, the Collector asked the department to expedite the completion of the pending works.

M. Manohar Singh, Additional Director of Rural Development/Project Director, District rural Development Agency, K. Lokanayaki, Project Director, Mahalir Thittam (Women’s Development Project) and A. Sekar, Personal Assistant (Development) to the Collector participated in the meeting.
