A visual treat awaits passengers and visitors at the Erode Railway Station.
The landscape of the entrance has gone through a spectacular transformation, with greenery created by Olirum Erodu Foundation, at an expenditure of Rs. 7.5 lakh.
The park replete with fountains and crotons designed tastefully in the backdrop of a green carpet of grass is expected to establish the first impression about the city for first-time visitors.
“The OEF will maintain the park by itself,” said the foundation chairman M. Chinnasamy on Wednesday after it was formally inaugurated by the Divisional Railway Manager of Salem Division Shubhranshu, District Collector S. Prabakar, and S. Selvakumara Chinnaiyan, MP.
The dignitaries present on the occasion included Members of Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee S. Sivanesan and C.S. Gowthaman. Complimenting the OEF for beautifying the hitherto desolate spot, Mr. Shubhranshu promised that the railways would do its part to ensure that the park was maintained well.
“We welcome other organisations to follow suit (for beautification of railway properties),” he said.
