Newly elected district secretaries and officer-bearers of the DMK are vying with one another to file nominations on behalf of party president M. Karunanidhi, general secretary K. Anbazhagan and treasurer M.K. Stalin, seeking their re-election.
On Tuesday, South Chennai district secretary and former Mayor M. Subramaniam, East-Chennai secretary P.K. Sekar Babu and North-Kancheepuram secretary T.M. Anbarasan obtained the signature of Mr. Karunanidhi and the other two in the nominations to be filed by them.
South-Chennai secretary J. Anbazhagan and Vellore R. Gandhi have already got the signatures.
The filing of nominations opens on January 7 and each nomination should be submitted with Rs 25,000. As the party has completed elections to 60 of the 65 districts, those elected are expected to file nomination on behalf of the three leaders.
It will be followed by the election of president, general secretary and treasurer and four audit committee members in the general council meeting, slated for January 9.
