Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami will not quit following the Madras High Court ordering a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the allegation of corruption in allotting State highway contracts, P. Thangamani, State Electricity Minister, said in Tiruchengode on Saturday.

“The Chief Minister will not resign and it will never happen,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the function to distribute State-level awards of the Scouts Movement in Tiruchengode.

He was responding to the statements of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M.K. Stalin and PMK founder S. Ramadoss, who sought the resignation of the Chief Minister following the HC order.

Neither DMK Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi quit her post when the 2G case was probed by the CBI Court, nor the then Union Health Minister Anbmani Ramadoss resigned when corruption charges were levelled against him during his tenure.
