Bharatiya Janata Party Rajya Sabha MP from Uttarakhand Tarun Vijay has vowed to take the teachings of saint poet Thiruvalluvar to every nook and cranny of the country.
Beginning his “Thiruvalluvar Thiruppayanam” after offering prayer to Thiruvalluvar statue here, Mr Tarun Vijay said Thirukkural couplets were the best example for national integration.
Later speaking at a felicitation function at South Mada Street, he said the glory of Thirukkural and the biography of Thiruvalluvar would be taken to every college and school across the country.
He would strive to include the biography of Thiruvalluvar in school and college curriculams in north India as the work of the saint poet was advocated equality, he noted.
Thirukkural couplets should be written on the back of every vehicle. The cultural values and history of north and south should be exchanged elaborately, he stressed.
Holy water from the Ganga and soil from the house where poet Subramania Bharati stayed in Varanasi were brought and kept at the feet of Thiruvalluvar statue.
The holy water was poured into the sea at Kanyakumari and the soil would be handed over at the residence of Bharathi at Ettayapuram, he noted.
He said he felt like the son of Tamil Nadu though he was born in Uttarakhand. He would establish a “Tamil Learning Centre” in Dehradun, he added.
Union Minister of State for Shipping and Highways Pon. Radhakrishnan, BJP State president Tamizhisai Soundarrajan, State vice-president Vanathi Srinivasan, BJP national secretary H. Raja and others participated.
