Beware of CA coaching centres

May 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - Tirupur:

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (Tirupur branch) has asked students not to fall prey to ‘luring’ advertisements by certain private coaching centres promising to make them chartered accountants.

“Capitalising on the latest trends where more students are now showing interest to become chartered accountants, it has been noticed that some private coaching centres give advertisements with wrong overview about the duration of CA course as well as its preparations,” said Rajesh Kannan, chairman of ICAI (Tirupur branch). He added that the ICAI, which is a body constituted by an Act of Parliament, and conducts the CA examination, had planned to conduct awareness programme among the students in Standard X, and Plus-One explaining them about the structure of the chartered accountancy course and the professional scope for chartered accountants.

“Anyone who is interested to know about the CA course can contact the ICAI (Tirupur branch) in the city through telephone (0421-2202732) or in person. We also conduct the classes for the Common Proficiency Test, the entry level test, and the other examinations,” said Mr. Rajesh Kannan.

He clarified that it was not that the pass percentage in the CA examination per se been low.

“Fact is that only really talented persons with right aptitudes are passing the examinations unlike in the case of other streams of studies,” he said.
