DMDK leader Vijayakant said the AIADMK will bite the dust in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
After appearing before the Tiruvannamalai Sessions court on Thursday with regard to a defamation case filed against him by the government, Mr.Vijayakant said, “Jayalalithaa had harshly criticised Karunanidhi and his family members when the DMK was in power. But Karunanidhi never resorted to filing defamation cases against her. Such was his magnanimity”.
Referring to the Madurai Bench of Madras High court’s order dismissing the writ petition filed by DMDK MLAs challenging TamilNadu Legislative Assembly’s decision to suspend them for six months, Mr.Vijayakant said his party will go for an appeal.
Questioning the rationale behind banning gutka on health grounds while selling liquor through government run TASMAC shops, he asked, “Will you allow sale of liquor just because it fetches money, though it is harmful to health?”
When asked what would be his party’s stand in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, he said no decision had been taken yet.
Earlier, sessions judge Naganathan posted the case for hearing on August 12.
