Thai Poosam: devotees throng temple car festival

A large number of devotees from western districts participated in the Thai Poosam car festival at the Arulmigu Kandasamy Temple in Kalipatti village near Tiruchengode on Sunday.

A large number of devotees from western districts participated in the Thai Poosam car festival at the Arulmigu Kandasamy Temple in Kalipatti village near Tiruchengode on Sunday.

A large number of devotees from different parts of the western districts participated in the Thai Poosam car festival at the Arulmigu Kandaswami Temple in Kalipatti village near here on Sunday.

The festival commenced in the temple under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department with flag hoisting on January 20.

Special abishekams , pujas, tiruveedhi ula formed the daily rituals in the temple. The sorga vasal was opened in the temple in the early hours of Sunday.

The car festival commenced in the evening, when the devotees pulled the decorated small car, big car, Vinayagar car and Valli-Deivanai Sametha Kandasamy cars through the car streets.

K. S. Mangayarkarasi, Joint Commissioner of HR and CE, Salem region and other senior officials were present.

The police had made elaborate security arrangements.
