The Principal District and Sessions Court here has issued a notice to Ravi Subramanian, an approver in the Sankararaman murder case, seeking his reply to an application for his prosecution.
Responding to the application filed by Special Public Prosecutor N. Devadass on Thursday, the judge issued a notice to Ravi Subramanian, who is in judicial custody.
The application was moved after he violated the conditional pardon granted to him by the then Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chengalpattu, on January 20, 2005, after he become an approver
On January 21 this year, during examination of witnesses, Ravi Subramanianturned hostile. He contradicted the statements made by him before the lower court and police.
Mr. Devadass told TheHindu that Ravi Subramanian would have to face trial under the original charges of murder and conspiracy against him. He would have to face trial for giving “false evidence.”
Of the 95 witnesses examined so far, over 50 had turned hostile, he said. The next hearing is on July 9.
