Eight injured as bus overturns

Eight persons sustained injuries when the mini bus in which they were travelling overturned in a hilly terrain while heading to Valadigamanibanda from Vaniyambadi here on Tuesday.

Police said that the private mini bus with over 30 passengers was going to Valadigamanibanda from Vaniyambadi. On reaching the hilly terrain between Tumberi and Valadigamanibanda, the driver of the bus lost control due to some technical problem. The bus started to move erratically. The bus finally overturned. In this, eight of the passengers sustained injuries.

Police said that two of the injured, Kumaran (28) and Zaageer (48) sustained a severe bone injury. The other six who sustained minor injuries were Sekar (12), Usuf (50), Chinnakulandai (35), Chinnaraj (65), Sriraman (60) and Duraiswamy (36). All the eight injured were admitted to the Government Hospital at Vaniyambadi. However, Kumaran and Zaageer were referred to the Government Hospital at Vellore. The Vaniyambadi Taluk police had registered a case.
