Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi was accusing the CPI (M) of instigating Maoists against the DMK government only to divert the people's attention from a series of protests by various sections of society, including government employees, said CPI (M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan.
“The CPI (M) has never had any links with the Maoists. In fact, we are the victim of Maoist violence. The Chief Minister knows this well,” he told reporters on Saturday.
Mr. Ramakrishnan said the Dalits in Uthapuram were not allowed to use the path even after the wall preventing their entry was demolished. They were also not allowed to worship the peepal tree in the village.
In Gudiattham, Dalit families were forcibly evicted from their houses.
Recalling the protests organised by the CPI (M) against the government on these two issues, he said the attitude of the officials, who held parleys with party leaders, changed completely after they received calls from Chennai.
“Our partymen were suddenly arrested,” he said and demanded the government to explain who called the officials from Chennai.
“Government employees are also launching protests to highlight their demands. Whenever there is a protest against the government, the Chief Minister will resort to this kind of mudslinging,” he said.
The CPI (M) will launch a campaign in support of the Left front governments in Kerala and West Bengal.
