2 killed as bus topples

Two persons including a four-year-old girl were killed and 11 others injured when a Puducherry bound private omni bus from Bengaluru overturned at Palapadi near Gingee on the Puducherry-Bengaluru national highway on Friday.

The victims have been identified as Jeevitha (4), daughter of Suresh Babu of Bengaluru and M. Jaganathan (37) of Kanchi in Tiruvannamalai district.

Police said the bus overturned at Palapadi after the driver Sekar lost control of the vehicle. While Jeevitha sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot Jaganathan died enroute to Tiruvannamalai Government Hospital.

Jeevitha’s parents Suresh Babu (45) and Nikila (39), her sister Manisha (8), Dhanapal (25), Ayappan (27) and six others who were travelling in the bus sustained injuries.
