The district police seized 100 kg of ganja neatly packed as 2 kg each and stocked in a locked house and arrested one person, said T. Eswaran, Deputy Superintendent of Police, here on Wednesday.

Four others were absconding, he told reporters and added that a special team rounded up the drug peddler M. Bhuvaneshmani alias Buneshmani (31) of Seethapal while he was selling ganja near Santhaivilai Bridge on the Aralvoimozhi-Seethapal Hill Road.

Interrogation of Bhuvaneshmani revealed that the gang was selling ganja from a godown from Aladi Sivan Temple Street in Sarakkalvilai near here.

The gang brought the contraband from Andhra Pradesh through four persons from Theni district. As many as 11 cases were pending against Bhuvaneshmani, the DSP said.

He was produced before the judicial magistrate at Boothapandi who remanded him in judicial custody. A hunt is on to nab M. Jagannathan, M. Subbiah Thevan, M. Jayakumar of Usilampatti and P. Murugan alias Keeripatti Murugan of Andipatti in Theni district.

Aralvoimozhi police have registered a case.

The special team of police included sub-inspectors attached to the SP office D. Samson Jebadoss, S. Gunasekaran and Shankar. The team was led by Mr. Eswaran and Kottar Inspector T. Gajendran.
