Gokulnath Shetty, Deputy Manager of the Kala Ghoda branch of Punjab National Bank and one of the accused in the FIR filed by the CBI in the ₹11,400-crore fraud case, was one of the most efficient and trusted employees of the branch, his seniors believed.
“I know him for more than 10 years now. He used to keep to his work only ... He was very efficient and seniors perceived him to be an honest worker. There were absolutely no complaints against him,” an employee and union leader told The Hindu .
He said that ideally, as per the bank’s policy, an employee should be transferred within three years. “He was kept at the same branch because of his efficiency,” another union leader said.
Mr. Shetty, a resident of Borivli, is on the run.
