Salman booked for “hurting” religious sentiments

Bollywood actor Salman Khan was on Thursday booked by the police here for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of a community.

The actor was booked under IPC Section 295A (acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class) on the basis of a complaint lodged by Mohammad Asim Mohammad Arif, a city resident, police said.

According to the complainant, Khan’s NGO Being Human had recently organised a fashion show in Mumbai where a model walked down the ramp wearing a T-shirt on which a word was inscribed in Arabic, This hurt the Muslim community, Mr. Arif claimed.

Investigating Officer Dilip Chavan said a probe was on.
