Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the possibility of new job opportunities in the private and government sectors in cities and villages has reduced the compulsion of youth to migrate and they are able to play their role in the development of their area.
As part of the government’s 'Rozgar Mela' (employment fair), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday distributed over 71,000 appointment letters to new recruits via video conferencing.
Virtually addressing the second round of the fair, where 71,000 new Central Government recruits were given joining letters at 45 locations across the country, Mr. Modi said, “Possibility of new jobs in both the government and private sector is continuously increasing. More importantly, these opportunities are emerging for the youth in their own cities and villages.”
Earlier in October, 75,000 appointment letters were handed over to newly-inducted appointees in the first round. In June, the Prime Minister had announced that 10 lakh existing Central Government vacancies will be filled by December 2023.
“The Rozgar Mela of today is proof that the Central Government is working in mission mode to provide employment opportunities to the youth of the country... The government is according the highest priority to utilise their talent and energy for nation-building,” the Prime Minister said.
Throwing light on the ‘Karmayogi Bharat’ technology platform launched on Tuesday, Mr. Modi talked about the availability of many online courses for government officials. Also launching ‘Karamyogi Prarambh’, a special online orientation course designed for new appointees in government departments, he urged the appointees to make the most out of it.
He touched upon the crisis created for the youth at the global level due to the pandemic and the war. He said that even in this difficult time, experts around the world are optimistic about India’s growth trajectory. “As per the experts, India has become a major force in the service sector and soon it will be the manufacturing hub of the world too,” he said. He added that 80,000 start-ups in the country are providing the youth opportunity to showcase their talent.
In addition to the categories of posts filled earlier in October, posts of teachers, lecturers, nurses, nursing officers, doctors, pharmacists, radiographers and other technical and paramedical posts are also being filled, a government statement said. A significant number of posts are also being filled by the Ministry of Home Affairs in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), it added.
Physical copies of appointment letters were handed over at 45 locations across the country, except Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh where the Model Code of Conduct is in force.
