The Congress on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and a high-level judicial inquiry into the rice procurement scam after a diary containing names of alleged beneficiaries, including his family members and associates, surfaced during an ongoing probe by the ACB.

At a joint press conference, general secretary in-charge of Chhattisgarh, B. K. Hariprasad, spokesman Abhishek Singhvi and PCC leaders, said: “In the garb of providing rice at Re 1 a kg under the much-touted PDS, the government has created a well-oiled corruption machine in connivance with mill owners... to earn thousands of crores in kickbacks and commissions.’’
