Rain, floods and dams in South India: top developments

The last week has been a tough one for Kerala, with excess rain causing landslips and flooding all over the State. The gates of 24 dams were opened to combat rising water levels. While the situation is not as dire in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana, the gates of several dams have been opened here too, causing flooding in certain districts and flood alerts in others.
